Hey all,

One of the top things holding back people from even thinking about going vegan is that they have no idea what they could possibly eat for dinner. So this past week I ditched our admittedly sub-par dinner page and rewrote it from scratch, adding in all the helpful ideas and advice I could think of. Please give it a look, and consider sharing it on Facebook or Twitter. It's exactly the sort of information that could give newbies the encouragement to give this vegan thang a try.

This image from vegan bodybuilding site RiseOfTheVegan.com got tons and tons of retweets and facebook shares. It offers a damned fine explanation of the sort of reasoning that can make someone vegan for life. Consider sharing it on Facebook, Twitter, or your favorite social media platform.

The biggest news of the week is that Kroger, America's largest supermarket chain, has committed to going cage-free by 2025. America's top ag newspaper doesn't like it at all, but they've just admitted that the caged egg industry is doomed.

Support Vegan.com

I had all sorts of things going on this week and Friday came and the last thing I wanted to do was write this newsletter, which requires an hour spent cutting and pasting and all sorts of fiddly HTML. I came this close to saying "screw it." And it's not like that would have been the end of the world but I know some of you really like this weekly missive so I bucked up, drank some coffee, and turned the crank one more time like I was Foreigner going out on the road for their 38th anniversary tour and having to pretend they're happy to be playing "Hot Blooded" for the 12,000th goddamned time.

With that in mind, if you should happen to remember, well I shore would appreciate it if you clicked through a Vegan.com link next time on you're on your way to Amazon.com. That'll generate commissions on whatever you purchase that will fund my various exploits, none of which animal agribusiness is at all happy with. And if you have money burning a hole in your pocket and wish to throw me a few bucks, you can PayPal me at [email protected]. Just to be clear, this isn't a nonprofit so your donations aren't tax deductible. But I promise that 95% of all donations will probably not be spent on exotic sports cars and illicit narcotics, which means your money is probably being better spent than if it went to some supposedly legitimate charitable effort or megachurch.

Tweet of the week: "Vegans who obsess over who gets to call themselves vegan often do more harm than good. We need to be welcoming people to kinder choices!"
